ELIMINATED HYDROSTAT

Triple5 Hooks Features and Benefits

DESIGN OBJECTIVE #3

  • Eliminate the Requirement for a Hydrostat

METHOD

  • Begin with a fundamentally safe (stable) system based on an off-load design rather than a fundamentally unsafe system that would require a hydrostat.

SAFETY BENEFIT

  • Removes a troublesome device (i.e. the hydrostat), resulting in less operation risks and less maintenance concerns.

Other Release Systems

Require the hydrostat and have special guidelines
for this component.

“…unless the mechanism is of the
load over center type,
which is held fully closed by the weight of the lifeboat, the hook assembly shall be designed so that the moveable hook component is kept fully closed by the hook locking parts…”
